Caste discrimination alleged at Alappuzha Collectorate

A complaint has been raised alleging caste discrimination against the chowkidars in the control room. The complaint is directed against Husoor Shirastadar Preetha Prathapan. Employees claimed that they were humiliated by the introduction of a separate attendance register.

According to the complainants, they were barred from signing the attendance book used by permanent employees and were instructed to sign along with temporary staff. When they questioned this, a separate attendance book was provided, further humiliating them. The register reportedly included only two Scheduled Caste employees.

When the matter was brought to the attention of the Additional District Magistrate (ADM), the employees alleged that it was dismissed as unimportant. They also claimed that the District Collector did not take any action.

Following the employees’ complaint, the Alappuzha South Police have registered a case. Additionally, the wife of one of the employees has submitted complaints to the Chief Minister and the Revenue Minister.
