Kochi: A serious case of caste-based abuse has been reported at Ernakulam Kakkanad District Jail. Following a complaint by pharmacist V.C. Deepa, a case has been registered against Dr. Belna Margaret.
According to Deepa’s complaint, the doctor allegedly made casteist remarks, saying, “Pulayars should go work in the fields.” She also accused the doctor of threatening to run her over with a vehicle and forcing her to clean the restroom regularly.
The Kochi City Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter. Deepa has also submitted a complaint to the Chief Minister regarding the incident.
