Chottanikkara Pocso Case, Victim dies while undergoing treatment

Kochi: A girl who was undergoing treatment after being attacked by her boyfriend in Chottanikkara has died. She died while undergoing treatment on a ventilator. The girl, who was found in a critically injured condition inside her house, was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kochi.

The girl, who survived the 2012 POCSO case, was found half-naked and in a debilitated state. She had a rope wound around her neck and was bleeding from a wound on her hand. The police had arrested the girl’s boyfriend, Anoop (24), a native of Thalayolaparamba, for harassing her. Anoop had given a statement that he had strangled himself with a shawl during a fight with the girl.

During police interrogation, he admitted that he had beaten the girl and that she had then attempted suicide. The young man met the girl through Instagram a year ago. After that, he used to visit the girl’s house. He had been involved in verbal arguments with locals several times. The girl suffered serious head injuries in the attack. The girl had not responded to medication since the previous day.

Cases of rape and attempt to murder were filed against him on the complaint of the mother of the girl who had suffered serious bodily harm. Anoop is an accused in the drug case. There is a ganja case against him at Peerumedu station.
