New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has once again praised the Centre. Tharoor praised the international efforts taken by the Narendra Modi government to combat the Covid pandemic in 2020-21. Tharoor said that India’s global image has been enhanced through vaccine exports. India’s vaccine diplomacy at that time stood out from the terror attacks of the Covid era.
Vaccine Maitri is an initiative launched by the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide vaccines to more than 100 countries during the Covid period. As part of this, India started distributing vaccines from January 20, 2021. India has manufactured and distributed the vaccines Covishield and Covaxin to more than 100 countries, including Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Bangladesh, African countries and Myanmar. Tharoor said that India has done what rich countries have not done.
Shashi Tharoor, who served as the Minister of State for External Affairs during the Congress-led UPA regime, said the government had emphasised global solidarity rooted in the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and India had been able to strengthen its ties with other countries in the subcontinent.
