The police have filed four FIRs against Crime Chief Editor Nandakumar for criticizing the government and the Chief Minister, accusing him of inciting riots. The cases are based on allegations that he criticized the Chief Minister and raised objections against the government, as well as his remarks regarding the Wayanad disaster and relief efforts.
There have been several instances where courts have intervened against the filing of cases when the media criticized the government or authorities. Nandakumar pointed out that even when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sharply criticized in Kerala, no cases were filed against those individuals. However, in this instance, he is facing cases for criticizing the Chief Minister, which Nandakumar believes was done to create trouble for the Chief Minister.
Nandakumar explained to Karma News that the Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, is not someone who succumbs to criticism. He stated that these cases were fabricated by the police and P. Shashi to target the Chief Minister, and that the Chief Minister likely had no knowledge of such actions. Nandakumar further accused those around the Chief Minister of using his name to tarnish his image without his knowledge.
