Deadly Food Remains Legal While Harmless Arali Flower Faces Ban; Akhila Kerala Thantrimandalam president

The president of Akhila Kerala Thantrimandalam, Prof. VR Namboothiri, said that there is no ban on the food which has claimed the lives of many people, but the Arali flower was in a hurry to be banned. Arali flower was banned in temples without any consultation.

Awareness programs could have been conducted to educate people on how to handle Arali flowers instead of banning. Offering Arali flowers could have been avoided in rituals. However, a complete ban on Arali flowers was not acceptable.

But how many people’s lives have been taken by the food called kuzhimandhi? Why was that food not banned? He also said that Arali flower needs the benefit that kuzhimandhi got.
