New Delhi: Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the government to halt all deep-sea mining activities. He has also demanded the cancellation of tenders issued for granting mining permissions.
In his letter, Rahul Gandhi expressed concerns over the environmental impact of deep-sea mining, stating that granting private companies permission for seabed excavation without conducting proper studies is alarming. He strongly criticized the central government’s decision to allow mining along the Kerala, Gujarat, and Andaman & Nicobar coasts, emphasizing the need to reconsider the policy.
