Chennai-Colombo Flight Undergoes Security Check Amid Terror Threat

Chennai-Colombo flight operated by SriLankan Airlines was thoroughly searched following suspicions that six terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack were on board. The security check was carried out based on an alert from the Chennai Area Control Centre.

SriLankan Airlines issued a statement emphasizing that the safety of passengers was their top priority. Due to the special screening of the Chennai-Colombo flight, a scheduled flight to Singapore was delayed, the airline added.

Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, the flight was subjected to a comprehensive inspection. The search was conducted following a notification from Indian authorities. According to police sources, the operation was initiated after receiving intelligence that six individuals suspected to be involved in the Pahalgam terror attack might be traveling from Chennai on the flight.
