Director Shafi’s health condition remains critical. He has been admitted to the intensive care unit with ventilator support. On the 16th of this month, Shafi sought medical attention due to severe headaches, which led to the discovery of internal bleeding, prompting an emergency surgery. Shafi was already undergoing treatment for cancer. Prominent figures such as Mammootty and M.V. Govindan visited the hospital to meet him.
Shafi is a renowned director in Malayalam cinema, known for delivering several hit films. Some of his notable works include Kalyanaraman, Pulivaal Kalyanam, Mayavi, Chocolate, Marykkundoru Kunjaadu, Makeup Man, and Two Countries. His last directorial venture was the 2018 film Children’s Park. Shafi is the brother of Rafi, one-half of the Rafi-Mecartin director duo, and the nephew of the late acclaimed director Siddique.
