Drug use with shared syringes, Nine people contract HIV in Malappuram

HIV infection has been confirmed in nine members of a drug group in Valanchery, Malappuram. The infection was detected during a screening conducted by the Kerala AIDS Society.

Among the infected, three are migrant workers from other states. The Malappuram District Medical Officer (DMO) also confirmed the news. The use of shared syringes for drug consumption is identified as the cause of the infection.
