Kochi: Asha Lawrence, daughter of late CPM leader MM Lawrence, has complained that she and her son were beaten up during a public appearance. The CPM Red volunteers, consisting of women, beat them up. According to the complaint, CN Mohanan, Lawrence’s son ML Sajeev and her sister’s husband Boban were complicit in the beating.
Asha filed a complaint with the Kochi Commissioner. The complaint also states that he was injured in the beating. Meanwhile, the Kochi Commissioner informed that the complaint has been handed over to the Kochi North Police and a case will be registered soon. Kalamassery Medical College has started the process to reach a decision regarding the release of MM Lawrence’s body for medical studies. The three children have been instructed to appear before the advisory committee today and clarify their stand.
Everyone will be listened to in detail. The Advisory Committee consists of Principal, Superintendent, Heads of Forensic and Anatomy Departments, Student Representatives and Student Representative. Son ML Sajeev and daughter Sujata say that the father has expressed his wish that the dead body be released for medical studies. Younger daughter Asha also argues that the father did not say such a thing and should be cremated according to religious customs. The High Court has directed the Kalamassery Medical College to take a decision after examining these different opinions.
