Eight people are seriously injured and a toddler dies after a truck crashes into a parked car in Koyilandy

Koyilandy: A two-year-old boy died after a lorry crashed into the back of a car that had stopped to change a tyre. Eight people were seriously injured. Mohammad Raheez, a native of Vadakara Chorod, died. The car was stopped on the road side to change the tire after the tire got punctured at Palakulam. While changing the tyre, the speeding lorry hit it.

The CCTV footage of the accident has been released. The pick-up van behind the car was the first to hit. Then the car was also rammed. The occupants of the car were standing outside while the tire was being changed. Two people were pulled out from under the car by the fire brigade.

The injured are undergoing treatment at Koyilandy Taluka Hospital and Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. Saif (14), Shefir (45), Fatima (17) and Gopi (55) were admitted to the Koyilandy Taluk Hospital and Junaid (37) and Suhara (55) were admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.
