An electric scooter caught fire and was completely destroyed while charging in Valanchery, Malappuram. The vehicle belonged to Saifudheen, a resident of Valanchery.
According to the owner, the scooter was purchased three years ago for commercial use. It was a Komaki electric scooter, bought from a local market. “Usually, I put it on charge around 10 PM and switch it off by 4 AM,” he said. However, early in the morning around 3 AM, he woke up after hearing a noise.
He managed to extinguish the fire using pipe water. The area where the scooter was parked was also damaged. The fire reportedly started near the battery section and later spread. Fortunately, since the fire was noticed early, major damage was avoided.
