Thiruvananthapuram: Excise officials conducted a raid at the University College hostel in Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram, and seized cannabis. The excise team searched 15 rooms in the hostel as part of the operation. This raid follows a similar seizure of cannabis from the Kalamassery Government Polytechnic Hostel, leading to intensified inspections in college hostels across the capital.
The inspection is still ongoing, and the remaining rooms will also be searched. More officials are expected to arrive at the location to assist in the operation. Acting on a confidential tip-off, the excise team carried out a surprise raid. A small quantity of cannabis was recovered from some of the searched rooms. The hostel, which has over 70 rooms, houses students studying under the University of Kerala.
