Malappuram: The District Collector V.R. Vinod has responded to reports of explosion sounds from underground in Potthukallu and Anakkallu, Malappuram. He stated that the possibility of a minor earthquake cannot be ruled out.
The Collector reassured that there is no need for public concern. Preliminary investigations have revealed that what occurred in the area is just a normal phenomenon. Although it is not felt as an earthquake, the Collector mentioned that a minor tremor cannot be entirely dismissed. He spoke to the media after visiting the area.
Further investigations will be conducted in the region under the guidance of geologists and groundwater experts. If necessary, a seismic warning system will be established in the area. The Collector also clarified that there is currently no need for residents to evacuate the area.
