Chitradurga Renukeshwari Murder Case: Bail Granted to Actor Darshan Bellary

Bellary: Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who was jailed in the Chitradurga Renukeshwari murder case, was released yesterday evening. Darshan had been in Bellary Central Jail for 63 days, and the High Court granted him interim bail for six weeks on Wednesday, leading to his release.

Darshan’s lawyer filed a bail application in court seeking release for medical treatment, citing his severe back pain. The High Court granted the interim bail based on a doctor’s report for a six-week period. Darshan, who appeared to be in considerable discomfort due to his back pain, left the jail with a noticeable limp. He then traveled to Bangalore in a car driven by his wife, Vijayalakshmi, who had been waiting outside.

Darshan was initially arrested on June 11 in connection with the Renukeshwari murder case and held at Parappana Agrahara Jail, later being transferred to Bellary Jail. His friend Pavitra Gowda and 15 others are also accused in the case. Pavitra remains in a Bengaluru jail, while the others are held in various jails across the state. Some of them were granted bail recently.
