Fake Health Card Racket Uncovered in Sabarimala, Investigation Intensifies

Pathanamthitta: Authorities have intensified investigations into a fake health card racket operating in Sabarimala, defying the Health Department’s guidelines. Health cards issued by the department are mandatory for hotel employees along the pilgrimage routes, ensuring they are free from illnesses and have received typhoid vaccinations.

During inspections by the Health Squad, counterfeit health cards were found being distributed to workers at Lahaa and other key points such as Pamba, Nilakkal, and the forest pathways. Reports suggest that the racket was operating extensively in Lahaa, charging over ₹1,000 for fake cards, while the official health card costs only ₹200.

Earlier inspections had also revealed the involvement of private laboratories in distributing fake health cards in Pamba and Nilakkal. The Health Squad has already apprehended some individuals linked to this fraudulent activity.

The department is taking stringent measures to dismantle the network and ensure the safety and health of pilgrims.
