Palakkad: A prominent businessman, R. Prem Kumar, has become the target of a fake social media campaign on YouTube, falsely accusing him of transporting black money to hotels in Palakkad. Despite police raids, authorities reported they found no trace of illicit funds and clarified that there was no basis for the allegations. The raids were routine checks, carried out following specific information, but no evidence was found, confirmed Palakkad Town Police.
In the viral misinformation campaign, old video footage and photos of Prem Kumar, including images of him exiting a car, have been repurposed to fuel baseless claims of black money involvement. Prem Kumar, who serves as chairman of the Bharat Lajan Multi-State Housing Cooperative Society (BLM) — one of the largest housing cooperatives in the country — has faced ongoing cyber attacks aimed at discrediting both him and the organization.
The Palakkad police reiterated that the raids were unrelated to any YouTube gossip and were conducted as part of standard procedure, finding nothing unlawful. Congress officials, however, accused the police of procedural lapses in the raid, claiming it was a politically motivated attempt to create a negative narrative against their candidate while aiding the Left candidate.
In response to these unfounded accusations, BLM officials have initiated legal action against the cyber attacks, affirming their dedication to transparency and integrity. BLM, a large government-regulated cooperative with thousands of employees and members, recently held its annual general meeting in Kozhikode, attended by tens of thousands of shareholders and stakeholders. BLM’s credibility remained unchallenged throughout the meeting, with no complaints or criticisms raised.
