Mohanlal Declares Exit from Leadership of Malayalam Film Artistes’ Association ‘AMMA’

Kochi: Actor Mohanlal has announced he will not seek a leadership role in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) going forward. This follows the controversies surrounding the Hema Committee report, which led to AMMA’s executive committee, where Mohanlal served as President and Siddique as General Secretary, being dissolved. Currently, the association is functioning under an ad-hoc committee until the next elections.

Reports suggest Mohanlal has informed his colleagues of his decision to step down from leadership roles in the future. He had previously voiced his concerns over criticisms directed solely at AMMA following the release of the report.

With Edavela Babu also stepping down, there were concerns within the organization that Mohanlal’s exit could impact its stability and operations. Persuaded by his peers, he had agreed to continue as President temporarily. However, Mohanlal has now made it clear that if there is a contest for the position, he will not participate.
