Alappuzha was plunged into grief following a tragic accident in Kalarkode that claimed the lives of six medical students. In connection with the incident, the Motor Vehicles Department has filed a case against the vehicle’s owner, Shamil Khan.
The enforcement RTO, R. Ramanan, stated that the case was registered under the Motor Vehicles Act after it was discovered that the privately registered vehicle was illegally rented out. The vehicle owner’s statement was recorded again on Friday before action was taken. Shamil Khan insists that the car was given to the students as a friendly gesture.
However, the Motor Vehicles Department has gathered evidence contradicting this claim, revealing that Shamil Khan has been renting out vehicles for years and owns multiple vehicles. A detailed report documenting these findings will be submitted to the Alappuzha First-Class Judicial Magistrate Court on Saturday. Further actions will depend on the court’s directives.
