Fiji, Zimbabwe, Niger & Paraguay receive vaccines from India

Under the Vaccine Maitri initiative of the Government of India, four nations received the Made in India Covid-19 Vaccines. Planes carrying the consignments of vaccine doses landed in Fiji, Zimbabwe, Niger and Paraguay.

Prime Minister of Fiji Frank Bainimarama in a tweet said, Vaccine Maitri has arrived to Fiji with 1 lakh doses of life-saving COVID-19 vaccines. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for helping them take the giant step towards a post-pandemic future for Fiji and for the world. On March 6, Fiji received its first batch of 12,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine through the COVAX facility. As of last Thursday, a total of 6,278 people in Fiji have received the first jab of the vaccine. President of Paraguay Marito Abdo thanked India for sending 1 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine. President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supplying the vital first shipment of 75 thousand Covaxin vaccines for Zimbabweans. Public Health Minister of Niger Ahmed Boto received 25 thousand doses of vaccine at the airport from Ambassador of India to Niger.

Under the Vaccine Maitri initiative, India has already provided coronavirus vaccines to over 70 countries.
