New Delhi: India is firmly committed to bringing the perpetrators, masterminds, and supporters of the Pahalgam terror attack to justice, said External Affairs Minister S.Jaishankar in a post on X (formerly Twitter). His statement came following a phone call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had earlier urged the UN to intervene and de-escalate the situation, requesting India to refrain from retaliation. In response, UN Secretary-General Guterres held separate phone conversations with leaders of both India and Pakistan, urging restraint and expressing deep concern over the rising tensions between the two nations.
In his post, Jaishankar wrote:
“Appreciate UN Secretary-General’s unequivocal condemnation of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Agree on the importance of accountability. India is determined to bring the perpetrators, masterminds, and those supporting them to justice.”
Guterres condemned the attack and emphasized the need for legal accountability. He also expressed concern over the growing conflict between India and Pakistan, stressing the importance of avoiding escalations that could lead to disastrous consequences.
