First-Year College Student Faces Ragging in Kozhikode; Police File Case Against Six

Kozhikode: A first-year student at Holy Cross College, Eranhipaalam, was subjected to ragging. The police have registered a case against six individuals, including two identified students. Vishnu, a resident of Olavanna Valappil, was allegedly harassed by third-year students Muhammad Sinan, Gautham, and four other unidentified students.

The victim sustained injuries on the back of his head and his right thigh. According to reports, the attackers forcibly removed his sunglasses and assaulted him. The incident took place on the evening of the 14th at around 6:45 PM. Vishnu had performed a dance while wearing sunglasses at a college cultural event, which reportedly led to a dispute with the six-member group. Following the argument, they removed his sunglasses and assaulted him. The police registered a case based on a complaint filed at 5:23 PM yesterday.

College Principal Sister Shiny George stated that immediate action was taken upon learning about the incident. CCTV footage was handed over to the police, and all six students involved were suspended. She emphasized that the college has a strong anti-ragging cell and that this was the first such incident in the institution.
