Five-year-old girl in Puducherry tests positive for HMPV

Chennai: A five-year-old girl in Puducherry has been confirmed to have HMPV. According to the World Health Organization, most people will only have mild infections like a cold. Meanwhile, the girl, who was admitted to JIPMER Hospital due to fever, is undergoing treatment.

The World Health Organization (WHO) describes human metapneumovirus (HMPV) as a common winter-related infectious disease. The WHO’s statement comes amid reports that HMPV is spreading globally, including in China.
