Following the threat made by a Karnataka MLA, the Kodava community has demanded increased security for actress Rashmika Mandanna. Kodava National Council President N.U. Nachappa has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Karnataka’s Home Minister regarding the issue.
Karnataka MLA Ravi Kumar Gowda had stated that “Rashmika should be taught a lesson.” His remarks came after reports that the actress had refused to attend the International Film Festival in Bengaluru.
Rashmika entered the film industry through the Kannada movie Kirik Party. The MLA questioned whether it was right for her to ignore her mother tongue and the Kannada film industry. He claimed that she had been invited 10-12 times through special representatives but still refused to attend.
Meanwhile, the Kodava National Council, in its letter supporting Rashmika, emphasized that she belongs to the Kodava community and has achieved success in the Indian film industry through dedication and talent. However, they expressed concern that criticism had escalated into threats.
The letter urged the authorities to ensure the safety of Rashmika and other women from the Kodava community. It strongly condemned the threats against her and stressed the importance of treating women with respect.
