Former VC M.R. Sasheendranath Found Negligent in Siddharth’s Death at Wayanad Pookode Veterinary University. Judicial Inquiry Commission Reports Failure to Take Timely Action

Thiruvananthapuram: Former VC of Wayanad Pookode Veterinary University M R Saseendranath has been found guilty of Siddharth’s death. The Judicial Inquiry Commission has found that no timely action was taken. MR Sashindranath had been sacked by the governor earlier.

The commission inquired whether there was any administrative lapse in the university in Siddharth’s death. The commission prepared the report by taking statements from 28 people, including the university vice-chancellor, assistant warden, dean, ambulance driver and Siddharth’s parents, teachers and friends.

In March, the governor appointed Justice A. Hariprasad, a former judge of the High Court, as the commission of inquiry. The High Court had granted conditional bail to 20 accused in Siddharth’s death. The charges of ragging, inciting suicide, assault and conspiracy were charged against the accused. On February 18, 2024, Siddharth was found hanging in the bathroom of the hostel. The case is that Siddharthan committed suicide after the accused conducted a public trial and brutally beat him up.
