A 14-year-old girl died in an accident near Neriyamangalam, at Maniyampara, when a KSRTC bus skidded and slid down a slope. The deceased has been identified as Aneeta Benny, a native of Keerithode, Kattappana. The bus involved in the accident was traveling from Kattappana to Ernakulam.
A total of 18 people were injured in the incident, which occurred around 11 AM today.
The accident took place within the limits of the Oonnukal Police Station. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.
The bus fell to a depth of 20 feet. Reports indicate that the condition of the other injured persons is not critical. It is believed that the bus lost control after hitting a divider and then overturned down the slope. The girl was recovered only after the bus was lifted using a crane.
