Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader VD Satheesan has alleged that drug abuse is rampant in Kerala and that the government has failed to curb it. During an urgent motion discussion in the Legislative Assembly on the increasing crimes and drug use in the state, he criticized the government’s inefficiency.
Satheesan pointed out that the Excise Department lacks even adequate vehicles to carry out its duties. He also demanded that political protection should not be given to those accused of crimes.
Referring to an earlier incident where Youth Congress workers were attacked, he accused the Chief Minister of justifying it as a “rescue operation.” In response to Ramesh Chennithala’s remark calling the CM “Mr. Chief Minister,” Satheesan mocked the CM’s reaction, questioning what was wrong with the term. He added that the opposition had never insulted Pinarayi Vijayan and had never addressed him disrespectfully.
