Kochi: The High Court has dismissed the family’s plea for a CBI investigation into the death of ADM Naveen Babu. In her petition, his wife, Manjusha, alleged that the police investigation was ineffective, particularly in the case where CPM leader and former district panchayat president P.P. Divya is an accused.
Earlier, a single bench had also rejected the plea. Manjusha argued that there were suspicious circumstances surrounding Naveen Babu’s death and demanded a CBI probe. The family suspected that he might have been strangled and hanged.
However, the government maintained that the investigation was proceeding properly and that the post-mortem report confirmed it as a case of suicide. The CBI informed the court that it was willing to take over the investigation if directed.
