Idukki: The government announced a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh. Later, the LDF called off the hartal protesting the Katana attack. The hartal was declared from 6 am to 6 pm in Munnar KDH village limits.
Dean Kuriakos MP and A Raja MLA handed over the cheque to the family. The forest department will recommend the job to Suresh’s relative. The government will bear the education expenses of Suresh’s children.
The forest department will also buy a new auto-rickshaw to replace the auto destroyed by the elephant. The forest department also took care of the medical expenses of those injured in the attack.
Last night around 10 o’clock, an auto rickshaw in which Suresh Kumar and his team were traveling was attacked by a wild elephant near the labor unions of Kannimala Top Division. The deceased Suresh Kumar was an auto driver at Periyavara stand in Munnar. Three people who were with Suresh in the auto were injured. They are under treatment.
