Kottayam: BJP leader PC George will appear at the station on Monday in connection with the hate speech case, his son Shaun George informed the Erattupetta police station. As the police were preparing for his arrest, George cited health issues and informed them that he would not be appearing at the station today.
The information was conveyed over the phone, and a request will be submitted to the police seeking a specific time for his appearance on Monday. Amid police moves towards his arrest, George sought more time, citing health reasons. The Erattupetta police visited his residence twice today with a notice requiring his appearance for questioning. However, as he was not at home, they returned.
Family members informed the police that PC George is currently in Thiruvananthapuram. Meanwhile, the SDPI staged a protest march to the Erattupetta police station, demanding his immediate arrest. The Kerala High Court had recently rejected George’s anticipatory bail plea in the case filed by the Erattupetta police over alleged anti-religious remarks made during a television debate. The verdict was issued by a single bench led by Justice PV Kunhikrishnan.
