Palakkad: The appeal of four CPI(M) leaders, accused in the Periya twin murder case, was scheduled to be heard by the High Court today. However, the appeal has been postponed to Wednesday due to the absence of the CBI’s lawyer.
The petition seeking a stay on the execution of the sentence and a request for bail will also be considered tomorrow. The four CPI(M) leaders who were sentenced to five years in prison had filed the appeals, which are under consideration by the High Court. The petitioners include CPI(M) district secretariat member and former Uduma MLA K.V. Kunhiraman, CPI(M) area secretary K. Manikandan, Raghavan Velutheri, and M.K. Bhaskaran.
The four CPI(M) leaders were sentenced to five years in prison by the Ernakulam special CBI court in connection with the case of the brutal hacking deaths of Youth Congress workers Kripesh and Sharath Lal in Periya.
