Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rain is likely in Kerala today. Kannur and Kasaragod districts will be on orange alert today. Orange alert is on in these districts tomorrow too. Yellow alert today in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.
Strong winds, thundershowers and high waves are likely in the state today. Fishing has also been banned. According to the National Center for Oceanographic Studies, there is a possibility of black sea phenomenon and high waves on Kerala coast and Tamil Nadu coast till 11.30 pm tomorrow.
Sirens will sound at eight places in Thiruvananthapuram
The operational trial of the warning sirens under the control of the State Disaster Management Authority will take place today (June 11). As part of the Armored Warning System under the Disaster Management Authority, the operational testing of 85 sirens installed at the state level will take place on Tuesday. As part of this, sirens installed at eight places in Thiruvananthapuram district will sound at various times from morning.
Govt HS Karikakam, Govt VHSS KALLARA, Government UPS, KIKUVILLAM, Government UPS VELLARADA, Government HSS KATTAKADA, Government V. H. S. S. Poowar, Mini Auditorium, Pozziyur, Govt H.S.S. Sirens have been installed at Vitura in the district. The State Disaster Management Authority said that people should not panic when the sirens sound as it is a test.
