Heavy Rain to Return from December 12; Yellow Alert Issued in Eight Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to experience heavy rainfall again, starting from December 12, due to a depression formed over the Bay of Bengal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Following this, a yellow alert has been issued for eight districts on the 12th.

The districts on yellow alert are Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Idukki, Ernakulam, and Pathanamthitta. On December 13, nine districts will be under a rain warning, with yellow alert issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Kasargod. Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted.

Meanwhile, the depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a deep depression, bringing heavy rains to Tamil Nadu as well. On December 11, heavy rain warnings are in place for the districts of Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Ramanathapuram. On December 12, heavy rain is expected in regions such as Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Puducherry.
