New Delhi: Sanjay Malhotra, the Revenue Secretary, has been appointed as the 26th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a term of three years starting from December 13.
With over 33 years of leadership and excellence in his career, Sanjay Malhotra has contributed to various sectors including power, finance, taxation, information technology, and mining.
He is currently serving as Secretary (Revenue) in the Ministry of Finance. Previously, he worked as Secretary of the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. He has extensive experience in finance and taxation at both state and central government levels.
Sanjay Malhotra is a 1990-batch IAS officer from the Rajasthan cadre. He holds a degree in Computer Science Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur.
Shaktikanta Das, who assumed office in December 2018, has been the longest-serving RBI Governor since Benegal Rama Rau’s seven-year tenure.
