Kochi: The Vigilance Department has submitted a preliminary investigation report to the Devaswom Board regarding the incident where actor Dileep reportedly received VIP treatment for darshan at Sabarimala. The Kerala High Court had taken up the matter suo motu, and the case will be considered today.
In the proceedings, the Devaswom Board and the police are expected to provide explanations. CCTV footage of Dileep’s darshan at Sabarimala will be presented by the Devaswom Board today. A detailed report is set to be submitted to the High Court on Monday. The court may also decide on including Dileep as a party to the case and initiating contempt of court proceedings.
Reports suggest that Dileep and his group had darshan during the recital of the Harivarasanam, up until the temple’s closure. This reportedly caused inconvenience to women and children waiting in line for their turn. The High Court has raised questions about whether VIP darshans disrupted the access of other devotees.
The court emphasized its earlier directive that no special privileges should be granted to any devotee at Sabarimala, and observed that contempt proceedings might be initiated in this context.
