MLA P.V. Anwar Likely to Join Trinamool Congress

Nilambur MLA P.V. Anwar is reportedly in discussions to join the Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Anwar, who has distanced himself from the Left Democratic Front (LDF) following disagreements with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, has been staying in Delhi for the past few days, fueling speculation about his political moves.

Reports suggest Anwar has held talks with TMC leaders and MPs as part of efforts to align his party, the Democratic Movement of Kerala (DMK), with the Trinamool Congress. A formal announcement on this potential alliance could be made as early as next week.

Earlier attempts by Anwar to collaborate with Tamil Nadu’s Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) reportedly failed, as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, a close ally of Pinarayi Vijayan, opposed the move.

In this context, Anwar appears to be exploring opportunities with the Trinamool Congress, which has no ties to the CPM. Anwar’s DMK candidate, N.K. Sudheer, garnered over 3,000 votes in the Chelaakkara by-election, indicating his growing influence.

After strengthening his organizational base across various districts, Anwar is now actively engaging with the Trinamool Congress to finalize his political realignment.
