High-Temperature Warning Issued in the State; Yellow Alert Declared in Eight Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The high-temperature warning remains in effect across the state. A yellow alert has been declared today in eight districts—Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures are expected to rise to 38°C in Palakkad, 37°C in Kollam and Thrissur, and 36°C in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod—which is 2-3°C above normal levels.

The ultraviolet radiation (UV) index in the state is also at dangerous levels. Kollam has been classified under the red level, while Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad, and Malappuram fall under the orange level. Kozhikode, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Wayanad, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kannur are under the yellow level UV index warning.

Authorities have advised the public to avoid prolonged direct exposure to sunlight, especially during peak hours, due to the risk of heatstroke and heat exhaustion.
