Vigilance has arrested an accused in the Cooperative Bank irregularities case who had been absconding for 24 years. Gopinathan Nair, the first accused in 12 cases related to the Ponkunnam, Ilamkulam Cooperative Bank irregularities, was arrested by the Vigilance.
Gopinathan Nair was arrested when he arrived at the Nedumbassery airport to return to a foreign country. The accused said that he had been hiding abroad for so long. The Vigilance arrested him when he returned to the country without the knowledge of the Vigilance.
