The UDF-led local bodies are moving to increase the honorarium for ASHA workers, Anganwadi staff, and other similar workers. The Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Organization has submitted a report to the KPCC, recommending that the honorarium and incentives be provided from either the plan fund or the own fund. The final decision will be made after considering the legal aspects.
The UDF’s move is seen as an attempt to corner the government. After the Congress takes a decision at the party level, the matter will be discussed with the UDF leadership. The plan is to implement this as a collective decision of the front.
