Delhi: The Central Meteorological Department has warned that India will experience above-average heat from April to June. Increased heat is expected in central, eastern, and northwestern plains of India. The department’s head, Mrityunjay Mohapatra, explained that most parts of India will experience higher-than-usual temperatures during this period.
It is expected that six days of extreme heat will be felt in Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand in April. In Delhi and other northwestern states, the heat could last from two to three days. In the eastern region of India, the heatwave intensity is expected to peak on 10 to 12 days between April and June.
Typically, from April to June, India experiences 4 to 7 days of heatwave conditions, but this year, there is a likelihood of a more intense summer. The weather department also mentioned that there is a possibility of rain in the northeastern states in April.
