Delhi: The Waqf Amendment Bill will be introduced in the Lok Sabha tomorrow. The bill is scheduled to be presented at 12 PM tomorrow, with an eight-hour discussion planned. Following this, the opposition boycotted the Consultative Committee meeting. The ruling party has decided to issue a whip to all MPs. CPM MPs will not participate in the discussion on the Waqf Bill.
Three MPs from Kerala and Tamil Nadu have informed that they will not be able to attend the session due to the Party Congress in Madurai. The Waqf Amendment Bill, which has passed through the JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee), includes only the suggestions of the ruling party. The revised bill will have an eight-hour discussion, after which it will be passed. With only three days remaining, the government will try to expedite the process. There is no concern for the government as they have the required number of votes to pass the bill. The government has dismissed claims of it being anti-minority.
With the support of KBCI and CBCI, the government feels more confident. Key NDA allies, such as JD(U) and TDP, have not yet made their stance public. The JD(U) leadership has stated that their position will be clear when the bill reaches Parliament. Congress MPs from North India have firmly stated that they will oppose the Waqf Bill.
