Kozhikode: Jail officials and inmates clashed. The incident took place in Kozhikode District Jail. Five people were injured. Three prison officers and two inmates were injured. A clash broke out between the prisoners who were transferred from the sub-jail to the district jail today and the jail officials.
The problem was caused by the fact that the accused were not allowed to meet their relatives. But the explanation given by the authorities is that they are not allowed because the visiting time has passed.
Later, there was an altercation between the officers and the prisoners and this resulted in a clash.
Jail officers Ranjish, Nithin and Pradeep and prisoners Ajith Varghese and Jilshad were injured in the clash. They have been admitted to Kozhikode General Hospital. It is reported that a case will be filed against the prisoners for attacking the officials.
