KSRTC driver Jayaprakash has returned to duty. Yesterday, a breathalyzer test allegedly indicating he had consumed alcohol sparked controversy. Jayaprakash, a driver at the Palode depot, protested along with his family, claiming that he had never consumed alcohol in his life. Following this, a second test was conducted on the intervention of the Transport Minister, which confirmed that he had not consumed alcohol.
The incident occurred yesterday morning. During the initial test to check for alcohol consumption, the breathalyzer displayed a signal of ’16’, which indicates the presence of alcohol. However, Jayaprakash insisted he had never consumed alcohol in his life. He also claimed that the machine used had been malfunctioning for the past two weeks, which could have caused the false reading. Despite repeated requests to replace the faulty machine, no action was taken, and his request for a second test was initially denied.
Jayaprakash later filed a complaint with the Palode police pointing out all these issues. Following the second test, his innocence was confirmed.
