Gold price touches ₹70,000; price per sovereign increased by ₹200 today

For the first time in history, gold prices in the state have touched ₹70,000. Today, the price of gold in Kerala rose to ₹70,160. The price per sovereign (8 grams) increased by ₹200. With a rise of ₹25 per gram, gold is now priced at ₹8,770 per gram.

In the international market too, gold ended on a high note yesterday. The price of spot gold crossed $3,200 on Friday, marking a 2% increase. It reached $3,235. This week alone, spot gold has gained 6%.

Gold futures in the U.S. also recorded a rise, with an increase of 2.1%. China’s decision to impose a 125% tariff on U.S. goods has raised concerns of an escalating trade war between the two countries. This is considered one of the key reasons behind the surge in gold prices.
