Dr. Vandana Das’ memories are one year old today. On May 10, 2023, Vandana was stabbed to death by an assailant. Dr Vandana was serving Sandeep was that time he stabbed vandana. The violent accuse kicked the on-duty doctor Vandana and stabbed her with a pair of scissors.
The hospital staff, policemen and ambulance driver were injured in the attack. Vandanadas died in a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. Accused Sandeep was fired from the teaching profession. The crime branch filed a charge sheet for 90 days. The government also took action against the defaulting officials.
Vandana’s family is hoping that a public prosecutor will be appointed in the case. Father Mohandas told that he still has faith in the justice system.
Vandana’s parents are yet to overcome to terms with the death of their only daughter. Mohandas and Vasanthakumari’s life goes on in the memories of their beloved daughter in Kathaturutthi Nampichirakala. They have prepared all the materials used by Vandana in the study room. Stethoscope, coat, books and pen watch are all in the room.
The family is hopeful that justice will be served when the trial proceedings in the case progress. The High Court had earlier rejected the family’s petition demanding a CBI investigation. The trial of the case is currently going on in the Kollam court. It was Vananda’s wish to have a free clinic for poor patients in his mother’s hometown, Thrikunnapuzha. The family is trying to fulfill that wish.
