The city of Thiruvananthapuram and its residents are in the final stages of preparations for the Attukal Pongala festival. With the festival underway, the temple sees a massive influx of devotees both in the morning and evening.
Leading hundreds of artists playing chenda, kuzhal, kombu, and chengila in front of the temple, actor Jayaram took charge as the Melapramani. Having visited the temple many times as a devotee, Jayaram expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the grand percussion ensemble at the temple.
I consider this the greatest blessing of my life. Being part of a festival that transforms Thiruvananthapuram into such a beautiful spectacle is truly one of the greatest fortunes of my life,” said Jayaram.
Every day, various cultural programs are held as part of the festival. The grand Pongala ritual will take place on the 9th day of the festival, on the 13th.
