Senior journalist and writer S.Jayachandran Nair passed away. He passed away in a hospital in Bengaluru. He had been living in Bengaluru with his son for a long time. He passed away at the age of 85. He was the editor of Kalakaumudi weekly for a long time.
He was the editor of Kalakaumudi Weekly for a long time. He has written several books and received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2012 for his autobiography Ente Pradakshina Vazhi.
The stories of the films Piravi and Swam, directed by Shaji N. Karun, are by Jayachandran Nair. He also produced these films. In addition to his autobiography, his main works are Rose Petals, Rivers and Seas, Waveless Sky, Veilthundukal, and Sunflowers of Madness. His editorials have been compiled into a book.
Born in Srivarahat in Thiruvananthapuram district, Jayachandran Nair started his journalism career with the daily newspaper Kaumudi, which was published under the editorship of K Balakrishnan. He worked in the newspapers Malayalam Rajyam, Kerala Janatha and Kerala Kaumudi. In 1975, he became the associate editor and then editor of the weekly Kalakaumudi. In 1997, when the New Indian Express Group started the contemporary Malayalam weekly, he took over as the editor. He worked at the Malayalam weekly until 2013.
He has received the K Balakrishnan Memorial Award, KC Sebastian Award, K Vijayaghavan Award, MV Paili Journalism Award, and CH Muhammed Koya Award. He received the Kerala Chalachitra Academy Award in 2012 for his work, The Truth of Vision.
