Kalamassery blast case: police file charge sheet, Dominic Martin is lone accused

Kochi: Police filed charge sheet in Kalamassery blast case. The only accused in the case is Martin Domenik, a native of Tammanam, in the blast that killed eight people. The police filed a charge sheet. The charge sheet was filed in the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court. Last October 29, an explosion took place at the convention center in Kalamassery during a meeting of Jehovah’s Witnesses, resulting in the death of eight people.

The first explosion took place inside the assembly hall during the prayer service of the Jehovah’s Witnesses convention. At this time there were more than 2500 people in the hall. Two more explosions followed. The fire spread to the people causing more serious injuries. All eight died of burns. Many fell and were injured as people ran out of the hall in panic.

The fire force and police reached the spot and doused the fire, but several people were injured. The convention center was sealed and the inspection conducted under the leadership of senior police officers revealed that it was a planned explosion. The NIA team also reached the spot.

The police received information about the blast from the hall. While the investigation was continuing based on this information, Martin, a native of Tammanam, appeared at the police station and revealed that he was the one who had carried out the blast. After this, more evidence was found against him. Dominic Martin was charged under UAPA.
