In the Kollam Collectorate bombing case, three accused were sentenced to life imprisonment by the district principal sessions court. Tamil Nadu natives and Base Movement activists Abbas Ali (31), Shamsun Kareem Raj (33), and Dawood Sulaiman (27) were convicted.
The court also imposed a fine of ₹30,000 on each. They were found guilty under IPC Sections 307, 324, 427, 120B, the Explosives Act, the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, and UAPA Sections 16B, 18, and 20. A fourth accused, Shamsuddeen, was acquitted, while the fifth accused, Mohammed Ayub, turned approver.
The bombing occurred on June 15, 2016, when an improvised bomb was detonated in an unused labor department jeep parked near the Munsiff court.
